With its MAN #TRUCKLIFE Hotel, MAN provided just the place to stay during the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2016. The unusual place to get some shut-eye: a MAN TGX. Parked in front of the doors of a four-star hotel, whose comfort the guests staying in the truck could enjoy to the full.
The guest from room number 17 shows up at reception. He wants to know what the deal is with the truck that has been parked in front of the hotel entrance the whole night and is still there. ‘This truck belongs to MAN but it also functions as a hotel,’ explains the friendly employee of the H4 Hotel. ‘Please feel free to have a look.’
At the IAA 2016, MAN managed to come up with something pretty special: the MAN #TRUCKLIFE Hotel is parked right in front of the H4 Hotel throughout the entire IAA and in close proximity to the fair grounds. Stay the night in the MAN and at the same time enjoy all the benefits of a four-star hotel. A very special offer that was well-received by the guests:
‘The night spent in the MAN TGX: there’s no other way of putting it – we had a great night’s sleep. The cabin has plenty of space and we were pleased with the level of comfort when lying down. The integrated hi-fi system with impressive bass was another nice feature. In the morning, some spa treatment followed by a delicious breakfast in the hotel set us up nicely for a visit to the trade fair.’ Wiebke and Knut are well versed when it comes to unusual or quirky vehicles: they have built their very own hybrid camper, combining a one-time flower container at the rear and a MAN TGL at the front. They talk about this in their blog „Einraumwohnung“.
Meanwhile, the guest from room number 17 is now standing in front of the MAN TGX. ‘Room wanted, truck found.’ is what he reads on the shiny grey truck. The doormat in front of the driver’s door contains the words ‘Welcome to the MAN #TRUCKLIFE Hotel’. Music comes from the inside of the truck. He knocks on the door of the truck hotel without hesitation. ‘Hello!?’ – a friendly woman opens the door. ‘Please, come in and have a look around.’ Daniela is herself a passionate fan of trucks and regularly updates her blog about her life as a professional driver.
‘When you hop into the new TGX, you get that new-car smell immediately. Not something you experience very often as a driver. A first glance into the driver’s cab already confirmed that it is essentially fitted out just like a normal hotel room. The two beds had snow-white, freshly scented bed linen; there was even a little bag of sweets on the pillows,’ reports Daniela, as she recounts her check-in to the truck hotel to the visitor. She would be glad to tell him everything else over a nice cup of coffee. She is about to go to the hotel for breakfast when, pointing to the stereo system with the music still playing, the man from room number 17 asks whether this is not draining the battery. ‘The truck is connected to the hotel’s local network and comes with an additional battery,’ explains Daniela. She switches off the music. On the way to the breakfast buffet, the guest from room number 17 begins to think that he too would like the opportunity to spend a night in the MAN #TRUCKLIFE Hotel.
