Depending on the wheel configuration, it is approx. 400 kg lighter compared to the classic all-wheel drive and thus helps to save fuel. Furthermore, various functions of the MAN TipMatic® gearbox also optimise the off-road suitability of your vehicle: as for example the off-road mode, the EasyStart moving-off aid or the rocking-free function.
Depending on the type of wood, trucks for forestry applications can reach gross vehicle lengths in excess of 25 metres. To be able to manoeuvre such loads with ease in a forest environment, it takes a skilled driver as well as a vehicle with maximum manoeuvrability.
Apart from their compact design with short wheelbases, slim driver’s cabs and optional steered trailing axle, MAN trucks come with additional smart functions on board, which significantly increase manoeuvrability. One example is the MAN turning brake, which is a unique feature in this vehicle class. The MAN construction air suspension with electronically controlled air suspension (ECAS) ensures optimal driving behaviour under all load conditions. It makes it possible to regulate the chassis height and thus makes it easier for you to load and unload the vehicle.
Transporting wood is not only about moving tree trunks from the forest to the sawmill. In many cases, the harvested wood is delimbed or chipped on site. This requires the use of powerful mobile chippers.
For the requirements of modern wood processing, we provide you with a powerful PTO at the transfer case that delivers an unrivalled torque of 8,000 Nm. It is driven by a powerful engine that delivers up to 500 HP and a torque of up to 2,500 Nm. If you want to move large quantities while putting as little strain as possible on the environment, you can also refuel MAN engines with biodiesel.
