MAN Truck & Bus Malaysia

The history of MAN trucks and buses in Malaysian market began in 1980’s dominated by spot deals. MAN with a Belgian partner, Sibmas supplied powertrains (engine, gearbox, transfer cases and electrical system) to Royal Malaysian Armed Forces. They are still being used by Malaysian Army and further deals were made with logging firms in Sabah and Sarawak.

The company commenced operations in 1991, when MBf Commercial Vehicles Sdn Bhd, which is the commercial vehicles division of MBf Holdings Bhd, was given the sole distributorship rights to market until 1999. Subsequently, the Company changed its name to MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MTBM) on 30 October 2000 when MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, Germany bought over 70% of its shareholding. MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, currently known as MAN Truck & Bus AG (MTB AG) is one of the leading manufacturers of commercial vehicles in Europe.

MTBM commenced operations in the sales of truck–chassis, bus-chassis and its related components and spare parts and provision of maintenance services for commercial vehicles during the year 2001.
