Bavarian Climate Week - CONSISTENTLY EFFICIENT at MAN
Exhibition of safe and efficient transport for people and goods and climate protection in vehicle manufacture
MAN Nutzfahrzeuge is participating in the “Klimawoche Bayern” (Bavarian Climate Week) and is putting on an attractive exhibition of vehicles from July 13 to 17, 2009 to provide information about efficient and environmentally-friendly trucks and buses. At the same time, the commercial vehicle manufacturer is publicising the measures it is taking to produce less CO2 in the manufacture of its vehicles and over the course of the vehicles' service lives. Under the motto "Consistently Efficient" in the newly-opened MAN Forum, located in the Dachauer Straße in Munich, MAN is showing how people and goods can be transported in particularly efficient ways in terms of energy and traffic, today and in the future.
Waiting for the visitors are trucks with special equipment for various sectors as well as exhibits on topics such as optimal aerodynamics and electronic drive safety systems. A real highlight is a city bus with environmentally-friendly hybrid drive. In continual stop-and-go operation, the hybrid bus has fuel savings of between 25 and 30 percent, producing around ten tonnes of CO2 less every year. There is also information about MAN's current projects, which have saved considerable amounts of energy at MAN's production plants. For example, the diesel engines for MAN trucks and buses are tested in the Nuremberg plant using a newly-developed cold-engine test that saves around 1,500 tonnes of CO2 per annum.
Come on in!
Visitors to the exhibition can find out what makes commercial vehicles particularly efficient. Sitting behind the wheel of the exhibited buses and trucks gives one a feeling for the sophisticated ergonomics of the driver's workplace high up above the road. In a real truck cockpit the visitor can also find out just how safety systems help the driver. The exhibition of vehicles in the newly-opened MAN Forum covers an area of more than 6,000 square metres and is a clear demonstration of the system competence that MAN and renowned body builders possess. The newly-built MAN Brand World covers an area of over 400 square metres and provides an impressive overview of the history of the company, current innovations and visions of the future.
Daily tours with expert guides
The exhibition will be open from Monday July 13, 2009 to Friday July 17, 2009 every day from 10am to 5pm. Daily at 3pm, MAN experts are offering a guided tour of the exhibition, packed with information about transport efficiency. Information and registration for the guided tour:

The amount of transport and traffic on Europe's roads is rising. At the same time, the long-term dwindling of energy resources is making transport increasingly more expensive. As one of the world's leading manufacturers of buses and trucks, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge makes an important contribution to the continued improvement of transport efficiency. MAN offers a comprehensive efficiency program to reduce total costs of ownership. Transport efficiency, consolidated in the fields of technology, service, the driver and future expertise protects the environment and is added value for our customers.
