Biogas Trade Fair 2008 in Nuremberg
MAN will be presenting the successful gas engine E2848 at the Biogas Trade Fair in Nuremberg from January 15th – 17th 2008. The annual conference of the biogas trade association and the accompanying trade fair with 190 exhibitors is the biggest biogas event worldwide and a central focus for the branch.
Successful MAN gas engine E2848/ Exceedingly economical – MAN gas engines convince with their great efficiency and low running costs
Last year the MAN Engine Business Unit launched the new E2848 – a V8 gas engine with 265 kW ISO standard performance – with resounding success. The 8-cylinder engine was especially developed for applications with biogas and natural gas in the 250 kW class and rounds off MAN’s product programme in this sector. During development MAN attached major importance to the economy, reliability and low exhaust gas emissions of the engines. Equipped with a two-stage mixture cooling, turbocharger and an optimal combustion process the E2848 in 50 Hz operation with biogas achieves 40.3% mechanical efficiency and 49.6% thermal efficiency. At the Biogas Trade Fair in Nuremberg MAN is presenting the successful E2848 on stand 12-344.
The MAN engine programme for biogas applications is supplemented in the lower segment by 6-cylinder in-line engines with outputs of 110 kWmech. to 200 kWmech. (at 50 Hz). At the top of the range is the newly developed E2842 with 380 kWmech. in 50 Hz biogas operation. MAN has developed all of its gas engines for applications with biogas and natural gas and they achieve their extremely high efficiency levels thanks to optimised combustion. Before newly developed engines are put into series production they undergo extreme endurance tests to verify their reliable and long-term service.
