MAN Diesel & Turbo new corporate sponsor of the “Jugend forscht“ young scientists competition
MAN Diesel & Turbo is the new sponsor of the “Jugend forscht – Schüler experimentieren” (“Young Researchers/School Students Experiment”) competition for the Augsburg region.
MAN Diesel & Turbo is the new sponsor of the “Jugend forscht – Schüler experimentieren” (“Young Researchers/School Students Experiment”) competition for the Augsburg region. In partnership with the Augsburger Allgemeine, the local daily newspaper, MAN Diesel & Turbo will be sponsoring Europe’s largest youth competition in the sphere of science and technology for the Augsburg region for the first time in 2012.
“The competition is an effective instrument for getting young people excited about science and technology – a goal which MAN Diesel & Turbo also pursues,” says Michael Melzer, Head of Group Communications MAN Diesel & Turbo SE. “In addition, we will also be striving to ensure that the exceptionally high standards of the competition in the Augsburg region are maintained.”
The slogan for this year’s competition is “We like what’s in your head”. The contest is open to young people up to the age of 21 who can submit projects in the following areas: the working world, biology, chemistry, geography and regional sciences, mathematics/computer science, physics and technology. The Augsburg regional competition will be staged on 1st and 2nd March 2012 at the city’s University of Applied Sciences. The winners of the regional competition will go on to take part in the Bavarian state competition.
Established by Henri Nannen, former editor-in-chief of the magazine Stern, the competition rewards outstanding achievements in science and technology and will be staged for the 47th time in 2012. The annual “Jugend forscht” competition is organised by the Jugend forscht e.V. foundation and the individual regional and state competitions are arranged in conjunction with corporate sponsors.
