Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has concluded a comprehensive service contract with MAN Diesel & Turbo for the long-term servicing of 50 turbocompressors in Oman. Together with its local partner Oman Holdings International (OHI), MAN Diesel & Turbo is also investing in the construction of a service shop for Turbomachinery repairs in the capital Muscat, thereby strenghtening its service capacity in Oman and the Middle East as part of a regionalization strategy.

Raoul Restucci, Managing Director of PDO: “It is a real privilege and it’s wonderful to see the commitment shown to our industry and to Oman. It is In-Country-Value in action, delivering a huge opportunity with world-class capabilities and with established partners we know so well, OHI and MAN Diesel and Turbo.”

Dr. Uwe Lauber, CEO of MAN Diesel & Turbo: “Investment in the construction of a further service shop in the region will enable us to offer PDO even better local service as a respected customer. At the same time, we are extending our presence in the Middle East and strengthening our service capacity in a region characterized by oil and gas production."

In addition to consultancy services and spare parts provision, the service agreement also includes the long-term deployment of experienced MAN field service staff and local Omani staff on a permanent basis at various sites of PDO. As part of the workshop set-up, this will be supplemented by training and professional development of more Omani technicians. While continuing its successful partnership with OHI, MAN Diesel & Turbo is thus also fulfilling the requirements of the Oman In-Country-Value program. The company will be the first original equipment manufacturer of turbomachinery to have its own local workshop in Oman, providing repairs for rotating equipment and other machinery.
