MAN Truck & Bus awarded major order for 500 trucks
Truck rental company PEMA signs framework agreement / delivery in the course of this year
MAN Truck & Bus will supply the commercial vehicle rental company PEMA with a total of 500 trucks over the course of this year. A framework agreement between the two companies calls for the vehicles to be delivered in 2011. There are firm orders for half of them and delivery is commencing/has already commenced.
PEMA has ordered mainly heavy MAN TGX semitrailer tractors and swap-body vehicles equipped with eco-friendly 440-hp Euro 5 engines, automatic transmission and electronic stability program (ESP). In addition, the delivery also includes modern MAN TGL distribution trucks.
"What counted in favour of MAN were factors such as the efficiency and economy of the trucks as well as the outstanding service," said Peter Ström, Managing Director of PEMA, explaining the firm's decision. He continued: "We have been cooperating with MAN for years and are highly satisfied with the performance of the vehicles." The PEMA fleet currently has around 1,400 MAN trucks.
PEMA GmbH is headquartered in Herzberg am Harz and claims to be one of the leading independent commercial vehicle rental companies in Europe. The company runs a fleet of approx. 15,000 vehicles and employs 580 staff at 21 sites in nine European countries. Since July 2008 the company has belonged to the French banking group Société Générale, where it is part of the SG Equipment Finance business unit.
