The Way People Travel: NEOPLAN "Travelution" concept presents a vision for modern lifestyle travelling

  • Two touring coaches realised by NEOPLAN Individual display a vision for a new way of travelling with luxury kitchen concepts
  • The concepts, based on the Starliner and the Cityliner, also present a vision for infotainment systems

Some coach operators have special ideas of what added value for the traveller means. NEOPLAN is the first choice for demanding customers with individual requirements. At the BusDays 2012 NEOPLAN Individual is presenting a new vision of travelling, one that emphasizes the importance of having modern, freshly prepared cuisine on board. With a kitchen installation at a completely new level, a NEOPLAN Starliner and a Cityliner demonstrate what's possible in the way of culinary art on board. "Travelution" is a travel concept from NEOPLAN that is orientated towards the future, where coach operators fulfil the most demanding requirements and can offer their passengers a new way of travelling. The concept is one more example of what tailor-made ideas can be made reality with NEOPLAN Individual.

The kitchen area provides around four square metres of efficient action space for catering. The equipment gives a foretaste of the resources available to mobile gourmet cooks: hot-air oven (24 V / 1,500 W) or steam cooker (2,500 W) or oven (230 V / 3,700 W). There is also an induction hob. A real Italian espresso machine (24 V / 430 W) dispenses great crema on request. Alternatively, coffee makers up to 1,500 W can be installed. A single or double refrigerator with a capacity of up to one hundred litres and a deep-freeze facility stands ready to provide first-class refrigeration. An industrial dishwasher and an extractor hood keep things clean in the kitchen and ensure that the passenger compartment remains odourless.

A concept like this opens up plenty of options for the operator to differentiate. First-class travelling unites a particularly environmentally friendly and modern form of moving from one place to another with the desire of many of the travellers to experience upper-class levels on board the coach, expressed in a generous feeling of spaciousness, luxurious upholstery, ergonomically outstanding seating and innovative design. The concept's fundamental idea is that this level should also be pointing the way for the culinary experience. Coach operators will then be able to draw on the trends and accents current in international cuisine and offer their passengers healthy lifestyle food, freshly prepared. This would enhance the trip significantly from a qualitative point of view.

The holiday begins when the guest boards: and for this reason, the standard set in the kitchen extends throughout the entire coach. LED ambient lighting in ceiling and floor suffuses the interior with light, while comfortable easy chairs (Kiel Avance 1020) upholstered in leather in light colours guarantee seating comfort and relaxation of the best. Both buses also demonstrate how high-quality flooring confers a certain character on the interior, at the same time writing the next chapter in the story of earlier concept vehicles: a floor in "Projectline Black Metalstone" has been laid end-to-end in the NEOPLAN Starliner, while the Cityliner boasts a floor in "Ship Tropical".

More gourmet technology on board

The new kitchen concept is located in the rear section of the vehicle, with the area being clearly demarcated by the transverse arrangement of the island. It has been designed so that the worktop can be slid out by means of a rail mechanism, which enables simultaneous cooking on the induction plate (230V / 2,200 – 3,600 W) and washing up. The integrated air-extractor system (24 V / 400 W) ensures that the interior will remain free of odour while cooking is going on. A well thought out stowage system following the tried and trusted "Atlas Standard" used in air travel makes the serving of the passengers by the attendant staff a smooth process. The rear section of the vehicle behind the kitchen also provides a generous amount of additional stowage space.

On-board refrigerator-freezer combinations (as single refrigerator 24 V / 100 W or as double refrigerator 200 W) are more than able to keep top-quality provisions fresh until they're ready to be prepared. The built-in dishwasher (230 V / 3,500 W) cleans re-usable crockery in a very short space of time. In this regard, coach operators have a number of options by which they can use exclusive crockery and their own branding to take their catering up to restaurant level. An illuminated wine rack emphasises the gourmet claim. The 230-V devices are supplied via voltage converter with up to 5 kW, while the top variant has in addition a 6-kW diesel generator.

More digital infotainment

Both concept vehicles also present a vision for infotainment systems: A modern infotainment system keeps passengers agreeably entertained during the trip. They are able to watch the TV programs being broadcast on DVB-T, enjoy films on DVD or keep track of the momentary position of the bus on two monitors. In addition, all seats are equipped with 230-V sockets so that mobile PCs can be run on mains voltage and mobile phones and smartphones can be charged.
