Delivery MAN for HDNL
Home Delivery Network (HDNL), one of the largest contractors for two-man delivery services in the UK, has just commenced a programmed delivery of 158 new MAN rigids – all as fleet replacements and all debutants in HDNL livery.
Deliveries include 84 TGL 7.150 4x2 BL with Cartwright demount bodies, 13 TGM 18.240 4x2 LL drawbars and tandem axle trailers – again with Cartwright demount bodywork – and 61 TGL 7.150 4x2 BB with box bodies and tail-lifts by Bevans. The fleet also comes on four and five year R&M packages, plus MAN Fleet Management, MAN’s own all-encompassing online VoSA and O-licence compliance tool.
The new MAN fleet was selected after an extensive tender evaluation which saw MAN out-score its competitors on whole life costs; in particular residual values, maintenance, fuel economy, “robust” aftersales support and driver acceptance.
MAN’s EGR ‘Add Nothing’ engine technology was also an important factor in HDNL’s final selection decision, as the company’s Director of Fleet, Facilities and Security Brian Wheadon, explains, “There’s no doubt AdBlue was at the back of our minds,” he said, “and we looked closely at the impact of AdBlue on fuel economy. Storage and usage are significant issues, as is the risk of our drivers filling the wrong tank. No such issues exist with MAN, allowing us to concentrate on other operational advantages.”
Wheadon added, “I must add that aftersales support appears very robust, although we will be conducting a monthly review of dealer performance.” he said.
