EURO 6 MAN 7.5 TONNERS FOR JONESCO
MAN reduces Total Cost of Operation at Euro 6
Jonesco in Preston, plastics supplier to the commercial vehicle, fire safety and environmental markets, has taken delivery of its first Euro 6 MAN 7.5 tonners. The company has said it stands to make considerable savings over a five-year R&M contract compared to its previous truck supplier.
Two TGL 8.150 BB 4x2s rigids (with manual gearboxes) are already operating out of Jonesco’s new 3,700 square-metre, purpose-built warehouse and distribution centre in Fulwood. Volume-based operation includes Monday-to-Friday multi-drop work, distributing the company’s own plastics goods. The new site was opened 12 months ago and features a Brysdales racking system to provide 2,400 pallet locations.
The new trucks are also funded through MAN Financial Services, offering Jonesco an attractive Total Cost of Operation unmatched by the company’s previous truck marque. Full MAN telematics featuring MAN EcoStyle driver performance monitoring, is also included. 23’6” curtain-sided bodywork is supplied and fitted by Fosters Commercials in Preston.
“Our five-year, 650,000km R&M contract comes in a full £10,000 less per vehicle than MAN’s competitor truck brand in our fleet – and against any other truck manufacturer, for that matter,” said Jonesco Despatch Manager, Damian Leigh. “For a three-vehicle fleet, that’s a significant cost saving for our transport operation.”
“We were very impressed with how MAN has transitioned from Euro 5 to Euro 6,” he continued, “they have used EGR and SCR technologies for many years, and I believe this has showed in the reduced cost and greater scope of its R&M package. This was a key factor in our decision to move to MAN.”

Jonesco’s new purpose-built distribution warehouse is built on a 3.7-acre site and provides vital space for the company’s expanding business. Five loading bays with dock-levelers allow for receipt and dispatch of goods through the rear of the trailer, leading to significant savings in its first 12 months.
