VIPs expand knowledge at Euro Bus Expo
Team of top MAN technicians enjoy fact finding contest
Leading manufacturer MAN Bus & Coach UK has tested a team of its top technicians with a fact-finding visit to the Euro Bus Expo.
The hand-picked team of VIP technicians were selected by their employers to attend the expo at Birmingham’s NEC and to compete in a contest to be awarded the Chris Davies Trophy.
Grant Illing, technical service advisor in MAN’s aftersales department, explained: “These technicians are VIPs in that they have been hand-picked by their employers from service and aftersales centres across the UK as the best in the business.
“They are being given the chance to go around the exhibition and learn more about their trade and to introduce a competitive edge to it we have them taking part in an ‘information treasure hunt’ to compete for the Chris Davies trophy in memory of our former bus and coach colleague who passed away suddenly two years ago.”
Paul O’Cain, head of UK service for MAN, added: “Chris was responsible for creating this team of VIP technicians in the network as a way of forming an elite group who can share best practices and help each other.
“It is a fitting way of paying tribute to what he achieved and a lovely way of commemorating him as a person.”
The VIPs were set a challenge to gain information on a set of topics. The technician judged to have gained the most insight on the day, Dennis Corbett who has been part of the VIP team since the start and is based at MAN Manchester, was presented with a model vehicle.
He said: “It is a great honour to receive this award as part of the VIP team and I have thoroughly enjoyed this fact-finding opportunity and to see all the latest industry innovations at Euro Bus Expo.”
