Skip-hire and recycling specialists, Williams a Williams in Pwllheli, North Wales, has taken delivery of a bespoke 8x4 draw-bar combination from local MAN Truck Centre in Wrexham, AN Richards, for bulk recycling operations.
Civil Engineering, Earthworks and Waste Management company, MJ Church in Chippenham, has added two new MAN TGX 26.480 6x4 tractor units, with XXL cabs, to its 50 vehicle fleet. Vehicles were supplied, and will be serviced and maintained by, MAN Truck & Bus Bristol.
Lafarge Cement, the world's leading cement manufacturer and UK market leader, has taken delivery of 20 MAN tractor units as fleet replacements for part of its 113-vehicle UK operation. Assessed over the past year, the 20 TGS 24.440BLS 6x2 Lite chassis were selected after “several expected safety and operational benefits were realised”, Andrew Brodley of the company, said.
Home Delivery Network (HDNL), one of the largest contractors for two-man delivery services in the UK, has just commenced a programmed delivery of 158 new MAN rigids – all as fleet replacements and all debutants in HDNL livery.

Bedfordshire & Luton Fire & Rescue Service has added four MAN TGM 13.280BL 4x4 fire appliances in what the Service sees as a growing requirement to operate vehicles with a ‘multi-role’ capability. The compact 13 tonners are designed for rural fire-fighting duties, but will also be used as front line ‘urban’ machines.

In a £1 million investment, Owens (Road Services) in Llanelli has replaced eight of its fleet with new MAN TGX 26.440BLS 6x2 tractor units, with a further 12 on order for 2009. The company says that MAN’s EGR ‘Add Nothing’ engine technology was a ‘big factor’ in its decision to select MAN, while referring to AdBlue as proving ‘very costly’ for its other trucks.
